MugDeck Privacy Policy
Last updated: 28 September 2026
Who is responsible
This policy covers MugDeck, the iPhone drink-recipe app, and its pages on the DinnerDeck website. Contact Support@dinnerdeckapp.com with privacy questions.
MugDeck is operated by Ricky Francis, the controller responsible for the personal information described in this policy. Postal contact: 50 Hartley Avenue, Peterborough, PE1 5FT, United Kingdom.
Information on your iPhone
MugDeck does not require account registration or login. Your personalised decks, preferences and saved favourites are stored on your device to provide the features you choose. No app-level cloud backup or synchronisation is implemented. This is separate from any backup features supplied by Apple or your device settings.
You can change your preferences and remove saved items in the app. Clearing app data or deleting the app can remove locally stored information. Restoring a purchase restores eligible access, not lost decks or favourites.
Purchases, identifiers and technical information
Apple handles App Store payments. RevenueCat processes purchase history, receipt or transaction information and subscription status to validate purchases and manage premium access. It also processes technical information such as device type and operating system, and information about when the app was last used.
RevenueCat generates an app user identifier without a MugDeck login. Although RevenueCat calls this an anonymous App User ID, it distinguishes subscription records and must not be understood as meaning that no personal data is processed. Subscription information may also be used in RevenueCat’s purchase reporting and dashboard features.
See RevenueCat’s privacy policy, its app privacy documentation and Apple’s privacy policy.
When you contact support
An email to support contains your email address and whatever text or attachments you provide. We use that information to answer your question and investigate the problem. Please send only relevant details. Do not send passwords, full payment-card details or unnecessary health information.
If a subscription needs investigation, we may ask for limited purchase-reference information to locate the relevant record. There is no MugDeck account to delete or recover.
This website is separate from the app
The reviewed website implementation serves static pages, images, styles and a navigation script. It does not include a contact form or added advertising or analytics code. Email links open your email application; following external links takes you to services with their own privacy practices.
The web host may process IP addresses, request times, requested pages and browser information in server logs to deliver and protect the website. Server logs and hosting-level features cannot be determined solely from the public pages.
No additional analytics, crash-reporting or advertising-attribution SDKs, RevenueCat integrations or optional customer attributes are enabled in MugDeck. The website does not add cookies, analytics or advertising tags. Hosting-level logs remain separate from these app and website features; contact support for information about the hosting or email services involved.
Why information is used and legal bases
Where UK data protection law applies, the bases for essential subscription validation and access are performance of the app contract; for responding to ordinary enquiries and operating a reliable website, legitimate interests in providing support and maintaining the service; and for records we are required by law to keep, compliance with the relevant legal obligation. Contract-related support may also be necessary to perform the contract.
Any processing relying on consent must allow that consent to be withdrawn. Dietary and caffeine preferences are used to tailor your local deck; they are not a request for medical details. We do not need you to email medical information to use MugDeck.
We do not use the absence of a MugDeck login to suggest that subscription identifiers or support messages are outside data protection law.
Providers and international processing
Apple provides app distribution and payment services under its own terms and privacy practices. RevenueCat processes subscription data on the operator’s behalf under its data-processing terms. Hosting and email providers process information needed to run the website and support mailbox.
RevenueCat documents US-based processing and provides contractual safeguards in its Data Processing Addendum, including UK transfer provisions. This means subscription information may be processed outside the UK. Other providers may also process information outside the UK depending on their service arrangements. Ask Support@dinnerdeckapp.com for information about safeguards and how to obtain relevant details.
See RevenueCat’s Data Processing Addendum. No claim is made that all MugDeck-related information stays in the UK.
How long information is kept
Local decks, preferences and favourites remain in app storage until changed or removed, subject to device and operating-system behaviour. Apple and RevenueCat records are separate from that storage.
Support correspondence is kept only as long as needed to resolve enquiries and handle related complaints. Subscription records under our control are kept only as needed to manage access, resolve billing issues and meet applicable legal obligations. We review these records and delete them when no longer needed. Website log retention is managed through the hosting service; contact us for information about the applicable arrangements. Apple may retain its own records under its policies and legal obligations.
Security
No storage or transmission method can promise complete security. Keep your iPhone and operating system up to date and protect access to your device. Do not include unnecessary confidential information in support emails.
Apple and RevenueCat describe their security practices in their own documentation. This policy does not promise that information is immune from loss or unauthorised access. Please report a suspected privacy or security problem to support.
Privacy rights and deletion requests
Where applicable, UK data protection rights include access to personal information, correction, erasure, restriction, objection and data portability. These rights depend on the circumstances and may be subject to legal exceptions. You may withdraw consent where processing relies on it and complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.
Send requests to Support@dinnerdeckapp.com. We may need proportionate information to verify your identity and locate a subscription or support record. Please do not send identity documents unless specifically needed and requested. We will explain any lawful reason why a request cannot be met.
Clearing local app data does not cancel an Apple subscription and does not automatically erase Apple or RevenueCat records. Contact support about data under the operator’s control; Apple handles requests relating to its own processing. Manage subscription cancellation separately through Apple.
You can raise concerns with the ICO complaints service and read its guidance on privacy rights.
Children’s privacy
MugDeck has no separate age restriction set by its operator. Children and their parents or guardians should consider whether the recipes, caffeine content and equipment are appropriate. Parents or guardians should supervise children’s use of hot liquids and electrical equipment. Apple’s account and purchase rules apply independently.
If you believe a child has sent personal information to support, contact Support@dinnerdeckapp.com so the matter can be reviewed.
Changes and contact
This policy should be updated when MugDeck’s features or data practices change. The last-updated date identifies the revision. Material changes will be communicated where required. For questions, contact Support@dinnerdeckapp.com.
